I live here in New York City and my wife Milagros worked in
the Financial District,
where the World Trade Center is located. She was there when people were jumping through
the windows... and the buildings collapsed on her. After many failed attempts to reach her
by phone, I finally contacted my aunt who told me that Milagros was taken to the landfills in New Jersey, where they were
taking body parts to be identified.
I can't explain the pain and emotions I felt as I drove towards
New Jersey to identify my wife. On my way there I was stopped dozens of times by police officers in tears. Around
3:00 PM I Placed an American flag on my car. I was probably the first person to do that. At 7:00 PM my wife called
me, she told me she survived.....
she survived 911 by a miracle from God!
I stayed in New Jersey for the night. Next morning, I was the only car among dozens of Military, Police
and Fire Trucks heading for New York. EVERYONE with watery eyes and heart broken!
The suffering still present in my blood, I want to thank you from deep in my heart for your son's Heroism. We must prevent
further terrorist attacks on America.
